The last digit of the year is left blank for the drawer to complete. Vikrama Samvat dates can be converted to Standard World dating by simply deducting 57. Thus if this cheque was printed in the year Vikrama Samvat 2000, it would be equivalent to AD1943 - almost at the end of the era of the British Raj.
