Louis Adolphe Thiers (April 16, 1797 - September 3, 1877) was a French statesman and historian. He was President of France from 1871 to 1873, the first president of the Third Republic, immediately following the end of the Franco-Prussian war (1870-71). He succeeded Trochu who was Chairman of the Government of National Defense.

Comments:A fairly low relief medallion - particularly on the reverse. As I have produced the image with my camera, it does not truly reflect the quality of the piece. I will endeavour to update the image with a scanner as soon as mine works.
