24 May 1926 - Eduardo Olivero undertook the raid "New York - Buenos Aires" (14856) kilometers) starting off from the North American naval air station of Miller Field. The Argentine pilot made the flight in a hydroplane "Savoia 59", the machine being baptized with the name "Buenos Aires". He was accompanied by Bernardo Duggan and mechanic Ernesto Campanelli. The first stages until the South American continent were completed on time, but a flaw in the motor forced Olivero to land on the sea in the Atlantic Ocean opposite the coast of Brazil. Luckily for the aviators, they were helped by a small fishing boat, the "Juruna", that towed them to some small barren islands where the machine was safe from the sea. The mechanic Campanelli carried out the repairs to continue the raid. On 13th August, after an eventful journey, the hydroplane "Buenos Aires" landed on water in the outer port of the city of Buenos Aires. The government gave the "raidistas" a civic welcome. The three Argentine aviators had opened the air route between the two great capitals of America.
24 de mayo - Eduardo Olivero emprendió el raid "Nueva York - Buenos Aires" (14856) kilómetros) partiendo de la base aeronaval norteamericana de Miller Field. El piloto argentino realizó el vuelo en un hidroavión "Savoia 59", la máquina fue bautizada con el nombre de "Buenos Aires". Lo acompañaban Bernardo Duggan y el mecánico Ernesto Campanelli. Las primeras etapas hasta el continente sudamericano se cumplieron con absoluta regularidad, pero un desperfecto en el motor obligó a Olivero a amerizar en el Océano Atlántico frente a las costas de Brasil. Afortunadamente para los esforzados aviadores, los auxilió un pequeño barco de pesca, la "Juruna", que los remolcó hasta unos islotes donde la máquina quedó al abrigo de la marejada, mientras el mecánico Campanelli efectuaba las reparaciones para proseguir el raid. El día 13 de agosto, después de múltiples peripecias, el hidroavión "Buenos Aires" acuatizó en las aguas del antepuerto de nuestra ciudad. El pueblo de la Capital y las autoridades gubernamentales tributaron a los raidistas un apoteótico recibimiento. Tres aviadores argentinos habían abierto por aire la ruta entre las dos grandes capitales de América.
