Pick Number - Albania P13
A banknote issued by the Banka Kombetare E Shqipnis of Albania in the denomination of twenty Franga (Njizet Franga) also written in Italian - Venti Franchi. The note was printed by the Officina della Banca D'Italia - Roma, and carries the penalty for forgery on the back in Italian. This note is Prefix B2 number 1441 issued originally in 1939, and over-printed in 1945 with the new name of Banka E Shtetit Shqiptar. To further show the connection with Rome there is an Allegory of Roma seated holding a spear, and a shield with the initials S.P.Q.R. upon it. S.P.Q.R. stands for "Senatus Populusque Romanus", which is Latin for "The Senate and People of Rome". To the right of Roma is the 'she-wolf' suckling the children Romulus and Remus, the traditional founders of the City of Rome. On the reverse is a double-headed eagle.
A very well used note, but it has not been trimmed and is still its original size. There are a few very small holes and a 2cm tear (along the fold line in the right hand wreath), but as a note, it is still complete. Nevertheless - A rare item. There are no bright colours behind the eagle - this is just a scanning effect. |
