OTHER COMMENTS: SPECIAL cheque for The Maidstone & District Laundry Company Limited, with a receipt portion
at the bottom, signed by the payee. There is a 'crossing' stamp of the collecting bank - The Clydesdale Bank Ltd,
London for Credit with Midland Bank Ltd, and another handstamp of the Auditors "Larking & Larking" of Norwich
& Maidstone. The origin of this firm dates back to 1888 when Charles Larking purchased a small Norwich practice.
In 1928 his sons, Roland and Gordon, joined as partners the firm became known as Larking & Larking and steadily
developed into a sizeable practice. It still trades today as Larking Gowan. Edge damage has been repaired without loss of fabric. Some folds at top.
